The 26th National Agricultural Successor Summit in Saga took place on January 22 in Saga City, with approximately 1,800 agricultural professionals gathering to discuss challenges and foster connections. The theme, “Refining, Elevating, and Connecting Japanese Agriculture to the Future—Gather, Successors, in Saga, the Land of Renewal”, focused on advancing skills and ensuring sustainable agriculture.

At the General Assembly, attended by Her Imperial Highness Nobuko, Princess Tomohito of Mikasa, Governor Yoshinori Yamaguchi emphasized the need for systems that reflect the value of advanced techniques amid rising costs. He urged participants to refine their skills and engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of agriculture.

The event had a lively atmosphere, with notable participation from students, including those who attended short-term programs in Australia. Their active involvement and enthusiasm highlighted the importance of youth in shaping the future of agriculture.

The summit fostered collaboration and skill-building across generations, promoting innovation and sustainability in Japanese agriculture. Participants now look forward to further discussions at the Agri-Forum 2025 in Okayama.

第26回全国農業担い手サミット㏌さがに参加して感じたこと

1月22日、佐賀市で開催された「第26回全国農業担い手サミット㏌さが」に参加してきました。このイベントは、全国の農業関係者が集まり、日本の農業経営や課題について考え、交流を深める場として知られています。今年は約1,800人が参加し、会場のSAGAアリーナは活気に満ちていました。

テーマに込められた思い

大会テーマは「磨き　高め　未来へ継なげる日本農業～集え！担い手　維新の地　佐賀へ～」。佐賀という「維新の地」にちなみ、日本農業の未来を担う担い手が技術や経営力を高め、農業の価値を次世代へと引き継ぐ意義が込められています。

開会式での山口知事のメッセージ

全体会では、山口祥義知事が「物価高騰に対する課題解決には、高い技術や努力が価格に反映される仕組み作りが必要」と述べ、「技術や経営をともに磨き、農業の未来について語り合おう」と力強く呼びかけました。また、寛仁親王妃信子さまもご臨席され、会場全体が非常に特別な雰囲気に包まれました。

若い世代の活躍に驚きと期待

正直なところ、最初はこのサミットが高齢の参加者が多い「高齢者サミット」になるのではないかと思っていました。しかし、実際には多くの学生の姿が見られ、コロナ後の久々の賑わいを感じる場面が多々ありました。特に、オーストラリアに研修で行った学生たちによる活気あふれるPR活動が印象的でした。短期間の海外研修がゴールではなく、こうしたイベントで学びを深めながら自らの経験を共有する姿には、大いに感銘を受けました。

次の挑戦へ

本日1月24日は岡山県で開催される「令和6年度中国四国ブロック国際化対応営農研究会 アグリフォーラム 2025 in 岡山」にも参加予定です。このフォーラムではまた新たなメンバーと共に発表を行い、日本農業の未来に向けた議論を深めていきます。

まとめ

今回のサミットは、技術や知識を磨き合いながら日本農業の未来を考える非常に有意義な場でした。特に若い世代の活躍を目の当たりにし、次世代の担い手への期待が一層高まりました。これからもこうしたイベントを通じて、多くの人と交流しながら農業を盛り上げていきたいと感じています。
